The T610 and T610SAR have been recognised in the 2017 Good Design Awards, receiving a Good Design Award® in the product design category of Automotive and Transport.
The prestigious awards attract entries from all over the world and celebrate excellence in design and innovation across a broad range of design including Product Design, Architectural Design, Design Strategy, Digital and Communication Design and Social Innovation.
Winners were celebrated at a black tie awards ceremony in Sydney held on the 8th of June. In attendance on the night, pictured from left were Kenworth Research and Development Manager Paul Hogben, Chief Engineer Damian Smethurst, T610 Project Design Manager Ross Cureton and Product Development Engineer John Holden.
The T610 represents the largest investment in product development Kenworth’s parent company PACCAR has made in Australia.
From idea to reality, designed from the inside out, this significant investment in new technologies and design is centred round the driver’s needs, specifically for the Australian road transport market.
“The Jury takes their hat off to the design and engineering team. This is design excellence at its best. Involving customers in the design phase has resulted in a user-focused outcome. The driving position in the T610 is just beautiful and it is clear the designers put driver comfort first. Overall, this project exemplifies good design at all levels.”
