Introducing Cliff Swane, Dealer Principal of Inland Kenworth DAF Dubbo, which is the PACCAR Dealer of the Month for April, 2017.
For our April Dealer of the Month Cliff introduced us to his Dealership.
“Inland Kenworth DAF Dubbo is a 22,000 square metre site on the Newell Highway, 1.5 kilometres from the Dubbo CBD. The facility has new truck sales, full spare parts shop and drive through service shop with road train access. The Dubbo Dealership has the largest geographic area of responsibility in New South Wales, but is the least populated.”
“Inland Kenworth DAF Dubbo is a second generation family company. Growing up, I enjoyed this business too much to have given any other career alternative any real thought!”
“My role model is my late grandfather, Harold Swane, a man of sincerity, wisdom and toil. He had a generous spirit and high ethical standards.”
“My favourite model of truck is the Kenworth TW924AR, last made in 1987. There are still lots of these tough old icons getting around”
“The project I’m most proud of is raising funding and equipment to establish a Heavy Diesel Trade School Faculty under the Dubbo TAFE umbrella. It commenced in 2000 with enrollments 80% above TAFE projections. In 2007 $9 million dollars of Federal funding was secured to build a state-of-the-art, purpose-built facility that, today, has more than 300 enrollments, including high school VET courses.”
“Working with TOLL to develop and build a driver interchange and rest facility has been my most proud moment.”
When considering the future of the industry:
“Who knows where it can go with the innovative thinking and drive that created the T610. With the distance to cover in this country, road transport has a great future as the spread of population has a demand for just-in-time service that rail cannot deliver.”
Favourite local spot? “Palazzo on the Park”
Thanks for your time Cliff!
